Last Friday, November 12, a traditional event took place – electric car drivers were invited to visit a route of three stations to check the charging connector of an electric car or adapter. Malanka invited drivers who are experiencing difficulties with charging an electric car, are going to buy a car with an electric motor, have converted the charging connector to the European standard, or simply have questions about the operation of a mobile charging application to proceed to pre-designated addresses.


Testing of electric vehicles together with representatives of the Malanka EZ network at the addresses Goretsky St. 9, Academician Fedorov St. 5 and Sharangovich St. 51 have become truly traditional. Once every couple of months, Malanka invites drivers to these addresses who are going to purchase an electric car or a charging adapter, have converted the connector to the European standard, have technical or theoretical questions about charging electric vehicles. These addresses were not chosen by chance: the distance between them is small, and charging stations of different manufacturers are located on each of them. In the network of EZ Malanka, stations produced by three companies are used: Technology Zone (Tzone), Vityaz (Vityaz) and Yablochkov (Yablochkov). Within 15 minutes, anyone could test charging at each of the stations, revealing for themselves the nuances of operation and possible problematic moments. Representatives of Malanka and technical specialists of charging station manufacturers were present at each of the addresses.

During the meeting, drivers of electric cars Tesla model 3 /S, Chevrolet Bolt, Nissan Leaf, BMW i3 and the Chinese electric car BYD (with a redesigned connector for the European standard) did not experience difficulties with charging. However, there were also problems with starting charging on some electric vehicles.

Problems with starting charging arose in the Volkswagen e-UP electric car. According to the comments of the driver of the electric car, it was successfully charged earlier in the EZ Malanka network. The technical specialists of the station manufacturers have fixed the software problems of starting charging, solutions will be developed to eliminate them. Joint tests will be conducted with the owner of the Volkswagen e-UP. This model of an electric car is not often found on the roads of Belarus, so the participation of the owner is especially valuable.

Individual problems were also identified, which usually lie in the malfunctions of specific cars that arrived for testing.

On one of the tested Citroen C-Zero, an incorrect decrease in power was observed during the charging session. The data obtained will be analyzed by the technical specialists of the station manufacturers.

In one of the tested Chevrolet Bolt, a breakdown of the adapter lock was detected, due to which there were difficulties with starting charging sessions, as well as breaks during already running ones. Malanka reminds that for correct charging in the EHS network, it is necessary to use a serviceable adapter, or even better – to convert the connector to the European standard.

The tests were attended by the owner of the Chevrolet Bolt with a previously modified connector for the European standard. He has been safely charging his electric car for more than six months, which was successfully tested and recorded during testing on Friday. In addition, tests were carried out on an electric car of the Chinese brand BYD, which also re-equipped the connector and safely charged at stations of all manufacturers.
