What happens if the charging connectors for an electric car are mistaken?
Novice electricians often ask the question: what will happen if you use the "wrong" charging connector.
The answer is: it is as impossible to do this as trying to directly connect USB to MicroUSB. The fact is that each connector corresponds to a certain type of charging station and car brand. For example, for “slow” charging on the simplest stations we use connectors of Type 1 and Type 2 standard. The first supports Smart, Chrysler, GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Tesla. The second is used to charge Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, General Motors, Porsche, Volvo and Volkswagen.
For “fast” DC charging at powerful stations require connectors standard CHAdeMo and CCS Combo 2. The first can be charged Citroën, Honda, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Subaru, Tesla (with adapter) and Toyota. But almost all German, Swedish and American brands work with CCS Combo 2.
The electric car can’t be physically connected to the socket, which it does not support.
At Malanka stations you can find all the most popular connectors for both fast and slow charging, which are relevant for our region. You will never have any problem to find the one that suits your electric car.
